Message from the President of United for Jamaica

The recent United For Jamaica event was the Caribbean Students Reception. This event was a bigger success than we even dared to hope for, with a large turnout of students, Caribbean Community leaders providing important information, and the UFJ team making sure all the logistics were in place, while providing information also.

However the event became more than just an information gathering event. The event inspired all the Caribbean community leaders to realize that the possibilities are limitless when we come together in unity. For the students it provided great networking possibilities with veteran learned persons who were willing to help them just because they were Caribbean and it also let them know there was an infrastructure in existence that they could take advantage of in order to achieve their goals. For some it also comforted them to know that they were not alone in this foreign place, but there were others like themselves.

The event also became a challenge to all involved. For Community Leaders the challenge is to be prepared and ready to be of service to these students the future of the Caribbean Diaspora and also a challenge to the students to become involved in the movement of enhancing the Caribbean Diaspora in all their endeavours.

I have to say Big Respect to the Community Leaders that presented they did a great service. I have to say Big Respect to the Caribbean Students who also were present, they showed an eagerness to be more than just Caribbean Students in foreign, they showed the willingness to be future leaders and to be involved, and Big Respect to the United For Jamaica team for pulling off such high quality event.
